TEMCAD is a prescription oncology medication containing Temozolomide (20 mg) in capsule form. Classified as an alkylating agent, this chemotherapy drug works by crossing the blood-brain barrier and undergoing rapid chemical conversion to its active form, which damages cancer cell DNA and prevents further cellular replication. It is primarily indicated for treating specific types of brain tumors, such as newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (administered concomitantly with radiotherapy and then as maintenance therapy) and refractory anaplastic astrocytoma. Due to potential hematological toxicities, treatment requires rigorous medical monitoring by a specialized oncologist.
