Desirox -500mg

Desirox-500 contains Deferasirox (500 mg), an oral iron chelator designed to manage chronic iron overload. This condition typically arises from frequent blood transfusions required by patients with disorders like thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, or myelodysplastic syndromes. The medication works by selectively binding to trivalent (excess) iron in the blood, creating a stable complex that the body can easily excrete through the stool. By reducing this systemic iron burden, Desirox protects vital organs—including the heart, liver, and pancreas—from severe long-term iron toxicity and damage. Each box contains 30 tablets. Periodic blood, kidney, and liver function monitoring is critical during treatment.
