Efavir 600 contains Efavirenz (600 mg), which belongs to the class of non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs). It is indicated for the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) infection, always administered as part of a multi-drug combination therapy rather than alone. The medication works by directly inhibiting the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme, effectively blocking viral RNA conversion to DNA and arresting replication. This controls the progression of the virus and supports immune system recovery. Each pack contains 30 tablets. Patients should be monitored for potential central nervous system side effects, such as dizziness or vivid dreams, and liver function abnormalities.
