JAKAVI®, manufactured by Novartis, is an oral kinase inhibitor containing 5 mg of the active substance ruxolitinib per tablet. Presented in a pack of 60 tablets (6 blister packs of 10), it is a targeted therapy indicated for adult patients with specific myeloproliferative neoplasms. Key uses include the treatment of disease-related splenomegaly or symptoms in myelofibrosis, and patients with polycythemia vera who are resistant to or intolerant of hydroxyurea. JAKAVI functions by inhibiting the JAK1 and JAK2 enzymes, which helps control abnormal blood cell production and reduce associated symptoms. This medication requires strict medical supervision.
