Lupride Depot 11.25 mg, manufactured by Cipla Ltd., is a sustained-release gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist containing Leuprolide Acetate. Provided as a lyophilized single-use injection, this three-month depot formulation continuously suppresses testosterone and estrogen levels. It is primarily indicated for managing hormone-responsive conditions, including advanced prostate cancer, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and central precocious puberty. By temporarily downregulating hormone production, the therapy helps inhibit tumor growth and alleviate severe pelvic pain. It must be reconstituted and administered strictly under expert medical supervision via intramuscular injection.
The solution works by nullifying fetal rhesus-D positive red blood cells that may enter the maternal bloodstream during childbirth, miscarriage, or trauma. This critical medical intervention successfully blocks maternal-fetal RhD alloimmunization, preventing the mother’s immune system from forming harmful antibodies that could cause life-threatening Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn (HDN) in future pregnancies.
