Pentaplasm

Pentaplasm-200 is a prescription plasma volume expander containing Pentastarch 6% (Hydroxyethyl Starch in Isotonic Sodium Chloride). As a synthetic colloid, it works by increasing oncotic pressure, effectively expanding blood volume to improve hemodynamic stability. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of hypovolemia (low blood volume) resulting from conditions like severe trauma, major surgery, sepsis, or extensive blood loss, where crystalloid solutions alone are insufficient. Pentaplasm-200 must be administered strictly via intravenous infusion by healthcare professionals, with close tracking of the patient’s fluid balance, renal function, and coagulation parameters.
